Kari Kristensen was born in small-town Ontario but has spent most of her adult life in British Columbia, among the mountains. They feature prominently in her work, and she believes the natural environment is more advanced and beautiful than anything we can invent.
Primarily a printmaker, Kristensen carves lines and thousands of tiny dots into linoleum before printing by hand on paper. What first looks like simple black and white lines reveals more and more detail the longer you spend with it. Her work has since expanded into murals and collaborations across many media, but her technique and respect for the natural world stay constant.
