A: The West Coast brewing scene is very open-minded and incredibly varied style-wise, with brewers innovating a plethora of traditional styles. With lots of unique hop varieties being grown in the Pacific Northwest, we also have the opportunity to experiment and celebrate regional hop varietals. While we brew many outstanding traditional styles, we also have a lot of fun making various sour and wild beers.
Q: Tell me about which Strange Fellows beer(s) you’re personally most attached to? What’s the story behind that one?
A: TALISMAN West Coast Pale Ale is my go-to beer. Its tropical aroma and balanced hoppiness goes with everything, and at 4.0% ABV is wonderfully sessionable. Our Brewmaster designed this beer for himself as his afternoon beer. He wanted to be able to enjoy a beer after work then be able to go home and take his kids to soccer practice or whatever and to carry on with his evening without feeling like having had too much.
Q: At Ignite, we have a love and appreciation for work that is handcrafted. Tell me about how Strange Fellows includes a personal touch that larger breweries/other breweries aren’t able to offer?
A: Given that we brew smaller batches of beer on the regular it means that our beer is always fresh. Brewing on a smaller scale also allows us to use higher quality ingredients and we can make seasonal beers based on various fruits or flowers when they’re in season. We also spend a lot of time working on our recipes, the smaller scale allowing us to test new beers and to get feedback from our customers, before packaging for example.
